Dr. Curtis Luzi was born and raised in the rural Calgary area. He received his Bachelor of Science and Agriculture at U of A. In 2003 he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan with the American Veterinary Medicine award in large animal surgery. Dr. Luzi worked in mixed animal practice in the Sundre/Olds area upon graduating before opening Riverstone Veterinary Services in August 2015. Dr. Luzi enjoys working with both large and small animals, with a keen interest in equine medicine. He has gained experience in the latest equine technology, including digital radiology and ultrasound. He is looking forward to working with you in all your animal health needs.
Meg was born and raised in Sundre, Alberta. Following one year of undergraduate studies at Red Deer College Meg decided to apply to vet school overseas at Massey University in New Zealand. It is here that she spent the next 5 years completing her BVSc degree in Veterinary Science. In the last clinical year of her degree she spent time touring New Zealand, working in various rural practice clinics over both the North and South Islands. She spent the majority of her weekends working on a local dairy farm contributing to her keen interest in large animal medicine. In 2017 Meg received an award for her research on antimicrobial stewardship in the equine industry and is currently in the process of writing her first publication. She has a passion for diagnostic radiology and ultrasound and hopes to continue her education in this field in the future.
During her free time she enjoys golfing, hiking, kiteboarding, traveling the world for the best dive spots and of course spending time with her horses.
Amie is a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She was born and raised in Saskatchewan at Madge Lake where she enjoyed life on the lake and working at the local riding stables. In 2006 she graduated from the Veterinary Technology program in Saskatoon and moved to Alberta to pursue all the outdoor activities this province has to offer. She worked in a mixed animal practice in rural Alberta for 6 years before starting at Olds College in 2012 where she now is an instructor in the Animal Health Technology and Veterinary Technical Assistant programs. In her spare time, Amie enjoys long distance running, spending time with daughters Aspen and Emily, hiking, downhill skiing, and helping raise all their 4 legged family members.
Shaylin Muller is a Registered Veterinary Technician and has worked for Riverstone Vet Services since April 2015. She received her diploma in Animal Health Technology from Olds College. She has lots of animal experience as she was raised on a local farm outside of Olds, AB. She grew up with a wide variety of animals from small to large. She previously volunteered with Dr Curtis Luzi while completing high school. She is dedicated, compassionate and concerned with the wellbeing of every animal she encounters as if they were her own. Her extended pet family includes 3 dogs and 4 cats that she enjoys spending her free time with. She also enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her dogs, watching movies, and woodworking.
Jess was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She spent most of her grade school years taking riding lessons, and eventually working as a stable hand throughout high school. Following high school graduation, she landed a job as a technician’s assistant at a mixed animal practice, which is what led her to apply for the AHT program at Olds College in 2017. During her college schooling, she spent a huge portion of her time lending an extra hand on the Olds College farm, learning as much as possible about working with both bovine and small ruminant patients. Jess has a primary interest in large animal medicine, but is passionate about providing exceptional care in all aspects of veterinary medicine.
When Jess isn’t helping at the clinic, she is happiest hiking, horseback riding, and camping. As a 2019 Olds College graduate she is excited to continue working in, and learning about the industry with the Riverstone team!
Saige was born and raised north of Sundre on a fifth generation beef farm. Here her family spent most of their time raising quarter horses that specialized in rodeo events such as barre racing, breakaway roping and pole bending. She is currently in her 3rd year of online courses for Renewable Energy and Conservation; a passion she picked up from her father, owner and operator of Sundog Solar. Her love for animals attracted her to Riverstone where she works reception and the occasional vet assistance. Aside from work and school, her passions lie amongst her young horses, camping and enjoying what the beautiful West Country has to offer!
Desirae Jackson was born and raised on a farm just north of Sundre, where her family raises beef cattle and quarter horses. Her farm experience, along with nine years in 4H, gave her a good foundation in the agriculture sector. She is a graduate from the Physiotherapist Assistant Program at Red Deer College, and in November of 2016 her passion for animals led her to Riverstone Vet. Here she helps with reception and vet assistant duties. Desirae spends many weekends on the rodeo trail competing on the amateur barrel racing circuit, and in her spare time she can be found enjoying the outdoors through hiking, camping, and working with her young horse projects.
